MABIRA FOREST


The Mabira Forest in Uganda is largest and one of the last remaining equatorial rain forests in central Uganda. Positioned in the administrative region of Buikwe district, it is comfortably accessible from both the capital, Kampala and Jinja a major tourism and historical hub in Eastern Uganda. THE EASTERN LOWLAND GORILLAS IN D.R. CONGO

Kahuzi Biega National park in the Democratic Republic of Congo is the home to the largest gorilla species known as the eastern lowland gorillas also sometimes referred to as the Grauer’s gorillas. GORILLA TREKKING IN UGANDA, BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in the southern Western part of Uganda and it’s also on the rim of the rift valley. It has too hillsides that are covered with mist and also sheltered by one of the known ancient and biologically varied rain forest in Uganda dating back to more than 25000 years hence comprising of 400 varied tree species. Therefore, first and foremost “impenetrable forest” too protects and predictable 440 mountain gorillas, a number which is approximately half of the world’s population and this number of habituated groups can be tracked by visitors. “Bwindi” as a word  means “darkness” and therefore taking a nature walk in this magnificent forest will so unveil the reason why the forest is regarded as impenetrable since one requires to be realistically and physically fit to taking part in the gorilla trekking adventure because it needs climbing of the steep terrain.

One of the disturbing questions encountered by most humans is generally about the lives of their own look alike, the Mountains Gorillas. Gorillas are lovely and social animals who usually form harems which can be compared to groups / extended gorilla families.
These precious creatures are so much endangered, the reason why in Uganda they are being highly conserved and protected, and they only exist in very isolated habitats. Of the three subspecies of gorillas, the mountain gorilla is the largest and rarest. Remarkably strong, the mountain gorilla has a short trunk and a broad chest and shoulders. Males develop a streak of silver hair on their backs when they mature and are termed as"silverbacks."

LAKE BUNYONYI - AFRICA'S SECOND DEEPEST LAKE


         LAKE BUNYONYI 

Lake Bunyonyi is said to vary between 44m to 900m deep, this makes it the second deepest lake in Africa situated in South Western Uganda between Kisoro and Kabale.  The name Lake Bunyonyi is borrowed from a Rukiga word which literally means "small birds" hence Lake Bunyonyi becomes a destination for birds. The lake appears on the 5,000 Ugandan shilling notes under the title "Lake Bunyonyi and terraces". It is suitable for water sports like swimming, water aerobics, triathlon, rescue swimming, etc.

THE VEGETATION OF BURUNDI

Burundi like Rwanda and Uganda has lush green nature. It’s predominantly covered by the Savanna vegetation (grassland interspersed with trees). Trees like eucalyptus, acacia, and oil palm are the most common trees with other types.
Differently and not like other countries, Burundi forest once extensive, are now concentrated in national parks and nature reserves, and so location varies . The great green life concentration therefore rewards Burundi ample diverse wildlife limited by dense human settlement, inclusive of elephants, leopards, hippos, crocodiles, wild boars, antelope, monkeys, and flying lemurs. Birds in Burundi include, Guinea hens, partridges, ducks, geese, quail, and snipe, are particularly plentiful around the northeastern lakes.

If you would like to track mountain gorillas in both Rwanda and Uganda, leave everything to us, we shall book your Uganda / Rwanda gorilla permits through our dedicated and professional Kampala and Kigali offices.
We shall ask that you get in touch with us early enough with your preferred date you wish to go for gorilla trekking and allow us check availability with RDB (Rwanda Development Board) or UWA (Uganda Wildlife Authority), these are the two wildlife governing bodies in both countries.
Please be informed that gorilla tour bookings to Rwanda are always confirmed based on the date when the gorilla permits are available to us.
Love Uganda Safaris will assist gorilla trekkers to Rwanda in acquiring their Rwanda gorilla permits by charging an administrative fee of US$50 per permit. If no Rwanda gorilla permits are available for your preferred gorilla trekking dates, and you haven’t got the luxury of flexible travel dates, we will usually suggest gorilla trekking across the border in Uganda, to widen the chances of locating a gorilla permit. You would still fly into and out of Kigali Airport, but would only cross into Uganda for gorilla trekking.
